The ballots should be kept, hand counted, then run through a machine in suspect precincts.
If fraudulent, the hand count will disagree with original machine count. If second machine count disagrees with hand count, there’s a machine to confiscate. If second machine agrees with hand count, original machine was culprit, putting all used in the vote in suspicion.
There IS no paper balloting in my precinct.
There WAS a paper tape backup that printed your ballot when you pressed the ‘cast ballot’ button on the evoting machine.
Haven’t seen those paper tapes since the McDaniel primary in ‘14.
No way to recount anything with evoting.
