Who was the candidate in 76/80 that was run out of the primaries because either the candidate or spouse received counseling to prevent a nervous breakdown? My how times have changed.

Thomas Eagleton. IIRC, he was chosen as Mondale’s VP pick and it was found that he had been hospitalized for a nervous breakdown or something.
