This is actually not a total surprise- the Vietnamese acted the same way towards the French before us. They thought that the French were great once France left VN.

But I suspect that the VN attitude towards China is a whole different matter.

Yes I agree.

One still sees a French mode here. I see the Eifel Tower on the occasional motorcycle helmet, in fact. Similar to how America is seen, I believe.

And I agree with you. Vietnam is very adamant about not being like China.

Very much so.
