For the life of me I never could understand how a former VP candidate who couldn’t summon up the balls to stand up against Joe Biden in a debate could muster the support to be voted Speaker of the House. I can only conclude that those who voted for him likewise had no balls.

Ryan was a compromise. He's made it clear that he won't be an acceptable compromise again. I do not see him retaining the Speakership in January.

As long as baseline budgeting is in place, doesn’t matter.

Some rumblings too, about Sasse’s and Ryan’s relationships with disgraced Hastert.

I understand being pissed at the republicans but I don’t understand voting for Trump and ceding the rest of the field to the democrats. It’s like buying the bad ass new Corvette with a three cylinder Izuzu engine.

Oh, I intimately am aware of their duplicity and I hold no opinion they actually care about anyone but themselves.

I’ve said here before many, many times that the Republicans and pundits are the “loyal-but-not-too-vocal-opposition” firmly entrenched in their joy of feathered second tier beds. I’ve also said I’d rather see their traitorous house of cards burn to the ground before I let my vote go to continue any part of it.

They are comfortable with second-tier power as long as they can have their stashed-millions, their dachas and their pink parachute retirements. They are all Vichy traitors, IMO.

This isn't Rocket Science.

Just go look at any ranking of members of the House of Representatives by any conservative group and you will find that the Republican members of the House range from VERY CONSERVATIVE to ALMOST AS BAD AS THE DEMOCRATS.

Now scroll down and you will see all the Republicans at the top of the list and all the Democrats at the bottom. There will be a few exceptions but not many.

At the top are the CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS. They are not ever considered for the leadership of the House. Never, ever, ever, ever.

Now look at the MIDDLE OF THE PACK for the Republicans. That's where you find the mushy-headed quasi liberals like Paul Ryan. Vote conservative some times, support the Dems sometimes. Predictably bad. That's where we always choose our GOP leadership when we have a House Majority. Newt Gingrich is the only exception in memory. Our only decent House Majority Leader.

That’s one candidate I can vote for with certainty and say ‘he’s not one of the corporatists’.

Senator Toomey here in PA has caved so many times on gun laws to abridge the Second Ammendment, its a joke.

Toomey worked on Wall Street before he got into politics and Michael Bloomberg of Wall Street pressured him on gun laws.

I won’t vote for Toomey or my congressman.

I expect to vote Republican for Attorney General in PA to give them a chance to clean up the mess left behind by the soon to be jailed ex-AG Kathleen Kane, a Bill Clinton backed Democrat who played dirty while she was forced out of office for corruption.

I’m thinking of voting for the Democrat in down elections, and casting a vote for Trump. That might mess with their heads, too

Oh they are definitely throwing everything theyve got at the cause. They’re definitely sacrificing anybody they need to sacrifice. They think they’ll pick up the pieces when they win.

But they’re not going to win. They are going DOWN! This is the beginning of the end for the Establishment. They know it. Thus, their desperation.

Of course I agree with you. My quandary was more rhetorical in nature.

There are actually a very precious few congressmen there that are true Americans and they are often dispatched by the elitist money regime when they become a problem.

Another straw in the camels back of the "great disillusionment" as I call it of this election cycle as everyone's mask come off.

For what it is worth....

* Ryan was the vaulted wiz kid of Empower America.
* Proud as all get up was Bill Bennett of Paul.
* I get the pride, I won't take it against Mr Bennett, Sure he rose through the ranks, but this is a guy who was a VP candidate that has passed what 3 Bills in his life?
* So how does one now not question the stature of all our vaulted Conservative think tanks? ( oh their are many here on FR who lambaste Heritage for example ).
* Are they an income stream for those that set them up?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Just my 2 cents... I can't see Ryan or McConnell making beyond the 1st Hundred Days. For Trump to be successful, they need to get with the program or go back to a committee and or retire in 2 years. Their time has come and gone....

That’s because if the so called CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS were in leadership positions, they’d be expected to actually stand up for their supposed convictions, which they have no interest in doing. They didn’t sign up for a fight, they signed up for a gravy train! THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT!

I’ve thought about that too. I don’t think I’d do that in a close election for a particular spot. But I’m relatively certain that no Democrat up for election that has a Republican incumbent would lose in my state.

I still haven’t decided yet. It will be a spot decision tomorrow at the polling booth tomorrow I guess. All I can say is that I’m really pissed at establishment Republicans.

If Trump wins, Ryan is going to be toast.

His buddy in the Senate has been keeping a low profile and seems to be just as satisfied being Trump’s bithc as he was being Obama’s bitch, as long has he gets to stay highest floating turd in the Senate turd punch bowl.

Oh 2 more things...

By extension, it brings up the questions, 1. Does Jack Kemp deserve all the kudo's he as gotten over the years? Or was he a one trick Pony with empowerment zones and basically a Kasic kind of Republican aka a Conservative Dem with an R lable who was a party player? ( FWIW, as much as I question his stature in R circles, I doubt Kemp if alive would have been a never Trumper ).....

I noticed that too. Also the ultra conservatives are upset with Ryan because he isn’t conservative enough, not because of the lack of support for Trump.

His removal could not happen soon enough even if it means letting the crimocrats have his seat.
