Last World Series appearance... 1945. Last World Series win... 1908. The drought has been something else- from a faithful fan’s perspective.
I know! I’m in Chicagoland, born and raised (left for a bit but back now) and as much as I am a Sox fan, I do root for the Cubbies.
My Dad has a World Series book that has all of them, with details, from the very first. I pulled it out the other night when I was there watching the game with him (as he rooted for the Dodgers, lol) because I couldn’t remember the dates.
I want it so bad for all the fans, as a Sox fan, I have to say that when they won, it was such a great feeling! I told a friend that I couldn’t remember feeling so good and excited about something that I had NOTHING to do with!
Just loving these rallies —while I don’t post much, I sure do listen and post as much as I can on my FB page. I’m an old, cranky lady, and if someone disses me on FB and starts spouting Hillary billsh*t, well then, they get unfriended!
As for the Cubbies —my daughter’s FiL is in heaven now, rooting for his Cubs. My daughter married into a “mixed” family. Our family is five-generation die-hard Cardinal fans. If you know anything, you know that the Cards/Cubs have an amazing rivalry going. So...when daughter married into a Cubs family, things were a little dicey :-) When the Cubs would come to St. Louis, daughter and grandaughter would dress in Cardinal red and SiL and grandson would dress in Cubbie blue when they went to the games.
I do hope the Cubs go all the way —although I do have a soft spot in my heart for Cleveland —they were the losers for so long and the butt of so many jokes (movie “Major League” anyone?)
Go Trump! Go Pence! Go Cubs!
