I was born raised in NC, in the Sandhills region. Still got the Southern drawl I’ve had all my life. I’ve been gone since I was 18 and I’m 66 now. I like the way I talk and wouldn’t change it if I could. I get aggravated at Southerners who try and lose their accent because they’re afraid of being called a hick. I live in Washington State now and these folk have no accent whatsoever. Once in a while I run across another Southern transplant and we get to talkin’ about stock car racin’ and BBQ. Got a brother who’s lived in Charleston, SC for 45 years and he’s the only one in his family with a thick Southern accent. His children talk fast and sound more like Yankees than Southerners, but 30 miles from Charleston the accents start sounding more Southern.
I like the way Trump talks. He’s not a snob and he acts like just another one of the hardhats you’d see working on one of his buildings.
People who make fun of other people's accents/where others are from, are crude, rude, and VERY insecure jerks.
Some people do, some people have a "sensitive ear" and pick up a new accent/bits of another accent, when they move, or even when they just talk to someone who has a different accent. And then there are those ( not actors and actresses, just regular people and also some pols ) who put on different accents on purpose.
I also like Trump because he doesn't "put on airs" and is just a regular/"normal" person and always has been.
It's the social climbers who put on airs and who act like arses....like Hillary.
