INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) The Indiana Democratic Party is firing back at Indianas secretary of state, saying shes misleading Hoosiers on voter registration irregularities.
Democrats say the accusations by Secretary of State Connie Lawson were politically motivated, especially in an election cycle where voter turnout is expected to be high.
Earlier this week Lawson said thousands of birth dates and names on voter registrations were changed. Those comments prompted an Indiana State Police investigation into possible voter fraud.
On Wednesday, Lawson clarified her original statement. She now says people may have rushed to correct their names or birth dates and that it mat not be widespread fraud.
Democrats echoed that belief Thursday, saying its very possible the disparities are because people moved or got married and didnt update their information. But they fear that voters may hear voter fraud and think their vote doesnt count.
Democrats say thats simply not the case.
Secretary of State Connie Lawson rushed to judgement without apparently knowing all the facts or without doing her homework, said Drew Anderson, the communications director for the Indiana Democratic Party.
Secretary Lawson didnt do this on accident, said Peter Hanscom, the executive director for the Coordinated Campaign for the party. She is misinforming the public, leading to confusion and preventing election administrators from doing their jobs.
While voter registration is closed, you can still confirm your registration by clicking here. If you have additional questions, you can also call 1-866-IN-1-VOTE.
Naturally.
Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
So what.
The fraud itself was politically motivated.
Time for the SOS to bring the democrats into a Rico lawsuit.
voter fraud is political, so, yes, the investigation is politically motivated
When I vote in Indiana, I give the poll worker my “smart ID” drivers license. They swipe it, it pulls up my information. What is on the screen is the same as on my license. I sign an electronic pad. I get my ballot and I vote. Aren’t all Hoosiers being registered and aren’t they voting in the same way? If not, why not? Considering the ID I presented to get my license and to register to vote, that should be a pretty fraud-proof system.
Yeah, because your political opposition doesn't want to be cheated out of winning elections.
Put another way, "We Democrats can cheat as much as want want because any attempt to prove we cheated will be labeled as "politically motivated."
And the voter fraud isn't????
“....on accident”? Children say that, while most adults say “by accident.”
It’s always important if you get married or move to remember to also change your birthdate...
For the first time in modern history, Democrats are being called on their fraud....KEEP THE PRESSURE ON!!!
Hey, idiot DIMocRATs...voter fraud is “politically motivated”. Idiots.
So many truisms, so little time;
If you are taking flack, you are over the target.
If the shoe pinches ...
If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell - Carl Sandburg
Well, duh. Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist or that it doesn’t undermine democracy.
” For the first time in modern history, Democrats are being called on their fraud....KEEP THE PRESSURE ON!!!”
Amen! Keep at it. This is how Trump will get out the vote.
Expose it and more people will vote Trump in disgust over the DNC cheating machine.
Trumps answer to that stupid loaded question was perfect.
Um...how else could an investigation into vote fraud be motivated?
When I vote, one little old takes my DL, checks me off, hands it to another little old lady who does the same. I sign, they give it back and I proceed.
