The final presidential debate of the 2016 presidential election is over and according to pollster Frank Luntz and his focus group, Trump was the winner of tonight's debate. That being said, it was close.

The other winner of the night is moderator Chris Wallace, who did an excellent job managing the candidates, asking questions and staying out of the debate as a contestant.
Chris Wallace is hands down the best moderator of the cycle, bravo #debates— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) October 20, 2016
The self-delusion of winning?
I pledged my support to Trump as the winner of the nomination long before he won the nomination and I intend to continue to support Trump.
You are voting for Trump. Not supporting him. Big difference.
“self-delusion is the sure and certain path to defeat.”
The trick is to know which side is self deluded. In most cases it’s only possible to know in retrospect. If polls were scientific they all would come up with the same number. When in doubt, attack.
Are you going zen on me?
I am a little bit lost not having introduced in terms "self-delusion" or "winning."
I wonder how you maintain your "self-respect" in light of your measured yet erroneous analysis since predicting Trump's 24% ceiling during the primaries.
Then there would be faux rage about “a male candidate asking a female candidate what she does with her underwear” while live on international TV. I know, fake, but accurate.
Please take note of my tagline.
But it is not wise to resort mindlessly to the attack when the motive is simply to avoid unpleasant reality. Nor should it be necessary to shield conscientious conservatives on this forum from the truth. There is more then transcendental truth in the promise, "the truth shall set you free" it also carries practical wisdom to permit us to avoid folly when within our human capacity to do so.
To attack Megan Kelly personally as the messenger diverted us from dealing with the underlying issue and we who support Trump in this election have paid a terrible price as a result.
Would you demand a similar mea culpa concerning self-respect from yourself and from virtually everyone else in this forum who have predicted victory if Trump loses?
TRUMP WON but he is still such a moron!
I tweeted to him constantly & to KellyAnne & his family to talk about the 20% Uranium she OK’d to Russia when Hillary associates Putin with him & guess what? He did it again! He said absolutely NOTHING!!!!!!!
Trump did his all out attacks during the 2nd debates, and we all loved it, but we are his staunch supporters who will vote for him no matter what. He needed to win over middle of the road voters by appearing presidential, and I feel he succeeded.
Blah blah blah. Pompous bombastic snootiness.
“diverted us from dealing with the underlying issue”
I believe it was dealt with. Some chose to accept it. Some chose not to accept it. No self delusion involved here. Just a matter of opinion and personal priorities.
I thought that was a high point in diffusing the “girlie explosions”...by linking it with the rally shennigans bought and paid for by the HRC campaign. That should plant a very large seed in voter’s minds...
Regarding Trumps non-commital to election results. I had no problem with the stupid question. Of course the MSM latched on to it like a dog on a bone. Of course this leads into Trump and his surrogates be able to talk about election fraud. It is a big yawner in my opinion.
Is Trump somehow beyond criticism? Must our adherence be unquestioning?
Is cheerleading for him on Free Republic the equivalent of "support", while voting for him is not?
However, it should be enough to say that Trump himself never clearly dealt with the issue as confirmed by his tweets about Kelly bleeding and his 3 AM gutter war with a whore who was also Miss Universe.
We did not deal with the issue and thereby helped set Trump up for the fall. If the audio/video tape had come out associated with a Trump owning a different narrative, a man who had not made these tweets, a man whose base had not encouraged him in this regard, a man who had expressed an ounce of contrition, the tape would not have had nearly the devastating impact it carried.
We deluded ourselves that the base was all that mattered, that the woman's vote did not matter, that in any case the woman's vote could be bullied into agreement with us, that our victory is inevitable. This devastating women's issue was telegraphed from the very beginning, as I said, Kelly brought it all out in the first debate, it was mishandled from the beginning and we are now tasting the bitter fruits of our arrogance and self delusion.
Hey, if it’s insulting self righteous passive aggressive backstabbers like you, everybody wins!
Besides it is a very easy cleanup. All his campaign has to say is “he is not planning a revolution with pitchforks and torches, all he is saying is, that in light of the recent videos (draw attention to the videos) and other anomalies like the ones that popped up in the news today in various states, I am reserving the right, that if it is close, as it was in 2000, and if there appears to be any type of cheating I am going to stand with the voters to make sure that each vote is counted properly and each vote is weighted accurately. Somehow I remember this being Al Gores mantra in 2000 and nobody on the democrats side of things seemed to have a problem with it.”
