How to make your FR pages load faster under extra-heavy server loads
Posted on 10/19/2016 5:40:30 PM PDT by Jim Robinson
Click "Headers" on the main index page: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/news-forum/index
Click "Account" on that same page and then "My Preferences:" http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/my/
Click "20 messages per page" and "20 results per page."
You can also click on "Manage Blocks" on the preferences page and temporarily disable some of your sidebars.
You can change them back later.
Good luck.

My page loads are a little slow, but they are fast enough to keep my settings. Thanks Jim, you are one of my brothers in arms.

Thanks, maybe you can help me with another issue. Somehow, I hit a button which made the type on the FR page really tiny. I have no idea how it happened. It only affects FR, and only on my Firefox Browser. If I use Chrome of IE, the FR type is normal. Any other page or website also appears at its normal size. I’ve tried every option I can think of and nothing seems to restore the type on FR to its usual size.

Good reminder for folks that may help reduce server load a bit. I turned off all my sidebars years ago.

Just a quick note...
You might wish to mention that one needs to be logged in before attempting these actions, as simply setting about them as a Generic Viewer did nothing here until I logged in and was able to follow your instructions step-by-step.
Cheers.
