I would imagine it’s a bit of a mess... in which states were these undercover videos made, is 2 party consent allowed, etc..

Still, all the Trump accusations weren’t stalled by lawyer vetting.

Right. And didn't the New York Times run with an ILLEGALLY TAPED recording of a call between Newt Gingrich and other Republican leaders?

This was back in 1996 when a "Florida couple," John and Alice Martin, just happened to overhear an intercepted call by Gingrich while they were in their car, going "Christmas shopping." It just happened they had the kind of radio that could intercept phone calls. And it just happened the Martins also had a tape recorder in their car! (This was back in the days when recording equipment was still bulky, and very few folks kept recorders in their cars.)

Much later, the Martins were exposed as Democrat operatives.

In any case, the New York Times breathlessly reported the illegally intercepted Gingrich conversation. And "the Times ferociously defended its own use of the hacked phone call, arguing that it would be unconstitutional to punish the publication of information, no matter how obtained."
