There is a reason that Chris Christie had no (zero) chance of getting the nom this time around.
It's because he (by all appearances) went out of his way to help Mister Obama in the eleventh-hour of the previous election; (apparently thinking the nom could be his next time if he thwarted the GOP candidate this time.).
Christie's campaign could never get past his (IIRC) effusive praise of Mister Obama, and the "hug" which we will never forget or forgive.
