Americans at the time saw what we call the War of 1812 as the 2nd War of Independence. They recognized that if we had lost this war, we would have lost the independence we won in ‘76

Okay. But the war of 1812 took place
in, well, 1812. This guy says...

(the first two being in 1776)

American propaganda. The War of 1812 was an unprovoked expansionist war of aggression against us peace loving Canucks. The Brits were clumsy in their ill advised attacks on Lake Champlain and New Orleans, but the Canadian peasants helped repulse the American invasions north of the border. Queenston Heights, Stoney Creek,Beaver Dam, Chateauguay, Chrysler’s Farm, Lundy’s Lane. Now we just beat you Yanks on the ice. :)
