Property taxes as high as those in Illinois make it questionable to even own a house when you factor in all the other costs.

This is one of the big evils of America. OWNERSHIP is not OWNERSHIP if the Govt can take it away after you own it for not paying. It is like the gangster charging for “protection” of businesses.
