- get in the basement

- before you go in there, take your pets, bottled water, hand sanitizer, a bucket, non-perishible food, books, flashlights, paper towels, clothes, blankets, and medications

- have a radio or some form of communication

- radiation is horrible, but the first 3 days are the worst
