I have to wonder why Russia would want Trump to win. They might actually prefer Clinton, with her, they would have a continuation of the chaos of the Obama years, a vacuum they can exploit without much fear of push-back.
On the other hand, they might want Trump if they value a partnership against actual threats in the world.
Hard to know with the post-Soviet mentality in Moscow, whether it’s their best interests or the nostalgia for the past, a continual drumbeat about impending nuclear war, part threat and part smokescreen to keep the masses on their toes and voting for the party (nowadays of course that is not quite as obligatory as it used to be).
My guess is that the Clinton forces are whipping up all this anti-Russian talk to solidify the remaining neo-con and hawkish sort of vote that used to go to the Republicans but now that Trump has signalled changes in thinking, might be nervous about which side to support. Cheney, who is a credible voice in those circles, needs to put his hat in the ring (for Trump).
I think Cheney already has said he’s for Trump.
