I think it has something to do with their belief in the Jewish Indian theory; where the indigenous American Indians are believed to be the Lost Tribes of Israel, something having no basis in fact. Maybe they are eager to invite the entire native population of the Americas to crowd in here.

MYTH: Utah has always been a stanchly Republican state.

FACT: Utah voted for Woodrow Wilson in 1916, FDR from 1932-1944 and LBJ in 1964. Three of the most progressive Democrats of all time.

I think this applies to individuals; not the organization as a whole.

There'd be MANY Mormons that would not see the FACTS that their chosen religious organization has failed to advertise, if I stopped my little crusade to get the truth out.
