Major impacts will be limited to FL and GA. Government, aided by sensationalist media, typically sows panic before hurricanes, with the implicit message that self-help is impossible and only government can save you. Every hurricane’s seen by government as an opportunity for a power grab. The idea that Pensacola and Tallahassee should be under a state of emergency is ridiculous. Maybe they should just mandate evacuation for the entire state?
You should have seen the vast media/government complex set up in downtown New Orleans the week after the storm, producing “The Katrina Show” while busing residents out of town at gunpoint with the message that it was too dangerous even to be standing on the street.
