For you that are not from the area, when Pence says he was raised “south of forty” it is significant. “South of forty” US 40 in Indiana was looked down upon by the top echelon on the State. We were uneducated, bible toting gun owners who were unworthy of holding state office. We were the state deplorables of the times. It was always an uphill battle to prove we were capable and NOT part of the KKK Those that “knew” shunned people who were raised “south of US forty”. They were the hillbillies, rednecks, uncouth
