Because with China or Russia we would face giant conventional forces on their own turf. Presumably we will be the invaders, as I doubt they intend to come invade us here.
Advanced weaponry is nice, but there is not nearly enough of it to invade Russia or to take on China. Hell, the advanced weaponry hasn’t let us win in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria....and you want to take on China and Russia.
I cannot help but notice that the Germans had far more advanced equipment than the red army. You are feeling something called “Hubris”.
The roe is the only thing which permitted us from ending any of the wars against pissant countries in a few weeks.
I think in a mere 8 years we went from the most combat hardened, battle ready military we’ve ever had into... lets just call it a state of general unreadiness.
