I see multiple possibilities:

• She is sick and knows she can't do the job, so she tries to dirty Trump as much as possible and then throws the hail mary right before the election.
• She is sick but wants the job, but the DNC convinces her or pays her to throw the hail mary.
• She isn't sick, and this is a well thought out plan based on Torricelli.
• She isn't sick but she is losing in the polls enough that the DNC leans on her to throw the hail mary.
• She isn't sick but wikileaks releases information so damaging that the DNC leans on her to throw the hail mary.

  I agree that she wouldn't easy be persuaded to step down, but there are a lot of possibilities and the DNC particularly in NJ, has used this as a strategy.
