Pope says Jesus won't kick gays out of heaven
Wells Fargo Pioneer ^ | 10/02/2016 | Reuters Media

Pope Francis said on Sunday that homosexuals and transsexuals should be treated with respect but that teaching gender theory is unacceptable "indoctrination" of young people.

"When a person (who is gay) arrives before Jesus, Jesus certainly will not say, 'Go away because you are homosexual,'" Francis said.

and i should read more than just the first paragraphs of news reports

yes, Pope Francis seems prone to either making erroneous or questionable statements, or at least he gets reported a lot that way

how can he clarify his views better? maybe if he prepared his statements, or did so more carefully? I can’t recall Pope Benedict or Saint JP2 having this kind of ongoing problem being “misunderstood”

Since the Pope has made clear that sexual acts outside of marriage are a sin I doubt he meant non-celibate homosexuals but those who suffered from same sex attraction but bore that cross and stayed chaste.

I think that the Pope is in a more precarious position with respect to salvation than many homosexuals.
Teaching heresy to more than a billion in his flock is a problem.

Yes, we become new. But I know of no one for whom it has been an overnight success. The renewing of our minds, the dying of the old self, is a process. One that God works in His timing. For His glory. If it was an immediate thing, there might be the even WORSE temptation of boasting about it as our own work. For our own glory, and not His.

I understand his view in not shunning anyone. As Christians and plain decent human beings we should be examples by being kind. We should not throw stones as we all are sinners. I completely agree by using a different approach to reach every one.

However, what happens later is another subject all together. As each one of us has areas that we need forgiveness from God. Thiscquote from the Pope is a concern to me.

“It can no longer simply be said that all those living in any ‘irregular situation’ are living in a state of mortal sin.”

First if you are escorted to Heaven when your spirit is set free from this fleshly body, you would never be kicked out because the blood of Jesus took the sins of the whole world on that tree and a person who accepts that Jesus is the Son of God, was crucified on the cross, in three days rose again and now sits at the right hand of the Father, who in repentance accepts the gift a Grace that God has given will never be kicked out of Heaven!

The pope needs a little more bible study!

Jesus compared the lost and the saved to sheep and pigs. Once a man is saved his desires change so that he no longer wishes to do the things he once did - he may fall into the mud but he is not happy there. A pig can be all dolled-up for the county fair but as soon as that clean pig is let loose he’ll find the first mud puddle to wallow in . . . a sheep will bleat it’s head off.

A sheep would not give a speech to a college campus dressed up like Marie Antoinette . . . but a pig would.

Sorry, but that is the facts of the matter.

Agreed! It’s not the homosexuality, it’s the celebration of it (i.e. the refusal to repent). One person’s struggle with homosexuality is no different from another person’s struggle with compulsive spending, food addiction, pre-marital sex, etc. God is repulsed by ALL of our sins. Not a one of us (not even the skinny heterosexuals) gets to join Jesus in heaven without first repenting and accepting Him.

Life is too short to reply to such nonsense, thoughtlessness, poppycock, and pretense. You have the popester in your face, yet you are blind. Sorry you have to live with it.

"When a person (who is gay) arrives before Jesus, Jesus certainly will not say, 'Go away because you are homosexual,'" Francis said.

He might say words like 'Go Away, I do not know you.' to a certain Pope.

Maybe not; but how can Francis be so sure he will get in?

Thank you. There is a lot of hatred and anti-Catholicism on this thread.

Milo is not going to be there . . .

Unless he confesses his sins, asks for forgiveness, and turns away from his sinful behavior, God will play the part of the joyful father in his parable The Prodigal Son.

Milo is smart but too young to know his self-destructive bent.

Eventually his strong intelligence will overcome his feelings. He may become the first high-profile homo to reject his homo ways.

That indeed sounds very much like Milo.

I thought the same thing after reading the comments of the Pope, and then reading the posts. If I was a spokesman for such a large potential audience I would make a VERY concerted effort to be clear, and I realize that the media coverage allows LOTS to be lost between the statement and the text.

I know!
First, I’m really not comfortable knowing that there’s no beer in Heaven. That’s why we have to drink here.
Now the Pope says Heaven is lousy with off-white-clad sodomites drinking sloe gin fizz and Mimosas.
Sh*t, I can get that in Miami Beach.

As far as I can see in the article, the Pope didn't say anything like that.

Ah yes, you had to drag Milo in, just because. Sigh

We all get it PP, you detest him, now can you just try to stop talking about him?!

And Francy, you make me ashamed, failure barely scratches the surface.

“Jesus won/t reject him for being a homosexual, but if he rejects Jesus, He will reject him for failure to repent.

Same as the rest of us sinners”

Good point.
