I can understand using self-drive in the same way we use speed-control...out on the open highway, and not in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
There could be many bad things about this technology, but one of the good things would be that the vehicle could have the information to route around traffic during rush hours (and choose the most time efficient route).
This may also be an excellent way for us aging baby boomers to keep our independence in our later years.
I would like to see this as an option—particularly if the insurance and other costs are not excessive.
Also, if we can’t get rid of the TSA airport fascism regime it would make long auto trips easier.
I’m probably being silly, but cruise control makes me nervous.
