Climate fight targeting cows may reshape California dairies
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | September 29, 2016 | Kurtis Alexander

Legislation signed this month by Gov. Jerry Brown requires California’s dairy industry to answer for its contribution to global warming by making a 40 percent cut in methane emissions in coming years. The gas, which heats the atmosphere 20 times faster than carbon dioxide, comes from the butts and burps of bovines.

One U.N. report blames livestock, which has largely escaped climate regulation, for 14.5 percent of the planet’s heat-trapping gases, as much as planes, trains and automobiles combined.

The problem is not too many cows; it’s too many people. In order for the planet to recover, there needs to be far fewer people than there are today. Since Libs are the teary-eyed envirowhacks, in order to save Mother Earth, Libs should take the lead in offing themselves to reduce the surplus human population. It is a monumental task, but one that must be done. After several hundred millions of them ‘do the right thing’, we can evaluate the results and plan for the future, accordingly.

They need to drive dairy farmers out of business, so their land will become available for 1 billion more “refugees”...

What are the methane emissions of 10 million Mexicans eating beans? And don’t call me racist - I’m vegetarian. I know my beans (bratttt!).

If they really cared they’d pay to move the California dairy industry over here to Nevada. We suffer from a methane deficit due to the murder of the buffalo in their millions ...

Governor Moonbeam is really doing all he can to destroy California, and yet, California still limps on.

This is why Bankruptcy of Government - both States, when necessary, and the Federal Government, are not only not to be feared, they should be welcomed and promoted.

If we can just get an equal portion of liberal Democrats to commit suicide we'll balance everything out.

But Brown says nothing about the influx of 10 million Mexicans into the state.

LOL! When it comes to methane emissions of cows vs. Mexicans, I'd call it a draw.

This in not unique to California, it is happening thru-out the US. The manure digesters are relatively new technology but advances are being made.

Here is an article on a manure digester in Wisconsin, which leads the nation in using the digesters.

Anerobic Digesters Aren't Just for Large Dairy Farms

Keep in mind that manure, besides releasing methane to the atmosphere, is also a major source of run-off pollution that creates algae blooms and dead zones in rivers, lakes and oceans.

Per cattlenetwork.com , via Google:

Texas has the most cattle in the United States followed by Nebraska and Kansas. The cattle inventory in Texas is 11.8 million head, roughly 13% of all the cattle in the United States. Nebraska has 6.3 million head of cattle, slightly more than Kansas at 6 million head.

California should be deprived of all ice cream and other
dairy products. No more chocolate milk, no more coffee creamer.

What they are doing is putting small dairies out of business, medium sized dairies too. One of the dairies in WA, has built a cow pie converter that turns cow pop into energy. They power their own dairy and sell the rest back to the power company. That is only one dairy out of many in a dairy area.

Jerry Brown should personally recycle the methane by siphoning it out of each and every cow.

So, what you are saying is that this bill is all the fault of "Big Farma", as it were? Makes sense to me. The large farms out here are or can easily be unionized, which is the goal of our state Democrats. Probably because most of the Democrat politicians in the state are in the pockets of the unions.

How about the dairies moving out of the state to more sane jurisdictions. Then, sell your products to California at a suitable increased cost to these idiots.
