LOL ... I had to put on my hip boots for this thread!
The top speed of the fastest 289 option Mustang (the K-code, 271 hp) was about 115 mph. Yours must’ve been quite modified. Even the highly modified ‘65 Shelby Mustang GT-350 topped out at only 135 mph.
Wow, that’s going to hurt. LOL
That Healey V-12 is wild too. I love the little sports cars with big sleeper engines.
Shelby Cobra and Sunbeam Tiger come to mind.
People dont believe me when I tell them I use to drive Vegas to LA beaches in just over two hours doing 120 as much as possible. When you got into Cal and started hitting traffic it was moving at 80 - 90 in the fast lanes
I believe it. Alas, those days are long gone.
The fastest traffic flows I've seen in the US have been in Georgia. I was down there in the mid 80's for an NCAA basketball event. The Atlanta 500 finished about the same time. The slow lane was going about 90MPH. Went to a Masters event recently. Traffic flow was about the same. High end sports/luxury cars were well beyond that.
With a "turbo" decal.
Nonsense!
The ‘65 coup was a 271 HP that easily hit 140.
Had a 350 too later, that exceeded the limit of its speedometer at around 172 MPH.
It mostly depends on the rear gears, not the horses. Even the 225 HP V8 would exceed 115 MPH with .323 gearing.
.
Must be!
.
The longer you own the car too!
.
The Hertz version of the 350 was electronically rev-limited to keep the top speed down, since it had higher rear gears (.292) to go with the automatic, otherwise it would deliver some exhilarating top speeds.
Really ...
Even the new 350 with almost twice the hp will barely do that.
I have 200 hp more than the old 350 and mine won’t do 170.
And don’t mention gearing as I have a six speed with overdrive.
big deal, I’ve gone over 500 miles an hour many times; often for hours on end.
Nice to see him being called a man.
Our wussification is getting to the point that 26 year olds are ‘kids’ not responsible for their actions. Riiiight.
What I don’t like is when they charge a 17 year old for statutory rape of a 16 year old girlfriend. Be consistent, a 17 year old is not an adult. Neither is a 13 year old being charged as an adult for manslaughter.
