It sounded like Mike Larson said it sounded like and explosion, he said he knew it wasn’t a bomb - but the impact of the train hitting the stop, and everything else, sounded like an explosion.
He also said the engineer, in the front car, is not controlling with a dead man switch, but with an "alerter" (described in another post in this thread). The diesel-electric traction engine is at the rear of the train.
I caught a little bit of that on FOX news, the big question I have is was the big explosion before it hit the concrete barrier or was the big explosion the result of the train hitting the concrete barrier.
