Beautiful young lady, but she looks westernized.
Therein lies the ‘problem’ according to her dad. She was now westernized. Does that really come as such a shock to these new immigrants, that their children will quickly adapt to the place where they are now growing up? It shouldn’t be so surprising. The lure of peer approval is very strong during the elementary and teen years. The school is their ‘world’ outside the home.
I also am a pharmacist. I well remember a young lady in our pharmacy school from Iran, this was in 1984. She was smart and lovely and became a very good pharmacist. She was very pro western in her thinking and philosophy.
As I had lived in Iran and the Middle East we had common areas of interests and topics of conversation. When the subject of politics were raised she would be most subdued and quiet. She told me to “be careful about what I said as it could affect her.” There were other Iranian students that were not pro western. They were informers. I heeded her advice, I never again discussed politics of the Middle East and Iran in particular.
She feared them and her fears were most justified.
That's undoubtedly why she was murdered.
That’s what did her in.
