Here’s the main thing to remember. John Warner and Tim Kaine’s father-in-law are contemporaries. Linwood Holton is still technically a Republican, although he’s as liberal as they come. Holton is another one who fought viciously against Ollie North’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
And Mike Farris who would have won with Warner’s support. Thankfully, I think his influence has waned.
