I can remember 19cent burgers. My daughter thinks I’m lying when I tell her once upon a time you could buy a burger, fries and soft drink and get change from a dollar.

Yeah, what used to be Shoney’s Big Boy half-pound of ground round, is today a half-ounce of rounce scrounce.

And, perhaps also buy one or two gallons of gas.

that was the McD's advertising.

I worked at McDonald's during that time.

Hamburgers were 30 cents, cheeseburgers were 35.

Small fries were 23 cents.

And a drink was 15, 20 or 25.

Here, a you tube of a McD's commercial from 1972. It'll give her a laugh.

Now the Burger Chef radio commercial from the late 50s- early 60s is playing in my head...

Fifteen cents
a nickel and a dime
At Burger Chef
You eat better every time

For a nickel and a dime you get
French fried potatoes, big thick shakes
And the greatest, tastiest hamburgers yet!

Two burgers, an order of fries and a chocolate shake- sixty cents, and no sales tax then.
