Trump did well overall despite the clear bias in the questions asked and not asked by Lester Holt, and a missed opportunity to attack Hillary on the email scandal and Benghazi. The tone of debates is set by questions asked and questions not asked.
Holt spent much time on whether Trump will release his tax records and on the birther issue. Trump has answered these questions, but Holt kept pressuring him. Holt kept interrupting Trump during his answers, but he did not interrupt Hillary. Holt should have asked Hillary if her campaign started the birther issue in 2008.
But most importantly, Holt did not ask Hillary about the Bubba Foundation that has received billions of dollars from countries, individuals, and businesses that had business with the Hillary State Department.
Holt did not ask about how she amassed $300 million during the last 15 years, and why anyone would pay up to $500K per speech to her "husband" Bubba while she was secretary of state, not to mention her own speech fees after she left office.

It seems like Clinton had the questions in advance.
More like Hillary knew in advance Holt would run interference for her and be tough on Trump.
Which is exactly how it played out.
Lessons learned for Debate # 2. Moderators there will be no better. Trump will just have to bring things up himself and interrupt the Moderators.
(Mostly Because I was way to tired and should have went to bed instead of watching the Debate lol)
But they didn't tackle Immigration!!
At all. That is Huge with the American People and it was Ignored.
Imagine Killary coming out for Amnesty to 100 Million People?
Would have been another plank her own coffin.
But that was strangely left out....
I’d imagine Trump doesn’t want to turn off immigrant voters; he mentioned bringing people in here, but he has to tread carefully there (and Hillary certainly doesn’t want it broadcast that she wants open borders).
I’m sure she did. She was over rehearsed and if I have to listen to that voice for 8 years I will throw my hearing aids away.
Yep, Holt was terrible but it didn’t hurt Trump.
Hillary spent the entire debate reacting to Trump and failed to present her vision. Her behavior was typical of a candidate who is behind in the polls.
It was a wash. No major gaffes. Few minds will be changed. Trump missed some opportunities — almost like he was over-coached to avoid some topics. He could have hit her on the private email server (though he touched on it), Clinton Foundation and Wall Street talks she gave. He didn’t really do any of that — and the opportunities were there for the taking. I sensed he was too restricted by coaching.
Next time D.TRUMP has to prepare the questions the “moderator” will not ask AND also he may ask the “moderator” why he doesn’t ask himself those questions to CLINTON .
CLINTON MUST BE SHOWN , EXPOSED , as the puppet of the “establishment” SHE IS
Yep, she was a rehearsed, polished, crooked politician just like Bubba. I like that Trump wasn’t so polished as her, but yet looked presidential...that mysterious quality folks want. I wish I could fire all the career politicians, but I will start with her.
Hillary also exceeded expectations by remaining standing and not having a seizure.
People who went in expecting Clinton to collapse on stage were disappointed. People who went in expecting Trump to be incoherent and raving were disappointed. I don’t think either side scored a big win, and considering Hillary needed a big win badly then I think she wound up with the short stick.
When the debate ended shillary passed and cutoff Trump to get to and thank luster. Trump gave a whatever shug and turned to the side in defferenc.
NBC did its best to tilt the playing field in Hillary’s favor. NBC used close shots for the entire debate so that the viewer had the sense that both candidates were similar in stature. The split screen was used for the entire debate, most likely to “catch” Trump making faces.
Trump had to debate Lethter AND Hillary.
No one expected anything different. Not even liberals.
He did quite well considering it was two against one. Hillary’s plan for trade and taxes as it related to jobs and the the inner cities was weak with her empty slogans as opposed to Trumps goals to bring jobs and hope. Hillary and Lester tried to divert attention from these failed plans by chaning the sun jest by painting trump as a liar and racist, and temperamental, which gave Trump the opportunity argue how his plans are to help the inner cites from jobs to gun violence . While there was a lot of red meat issues trump’s base would have loved to have heard, such that everyone in the 2008 election had to show their birth certificate , and hillllry was correct to as the first to question both the presidents birth and Muslim affiliation, also cyber security; Hillary’s idea of using a private server and allowing secrets to be hacked to personal gain hiding bribes to the Clinton foundation putting her own her selfishness above the American people’s safety, and also selling the rights for personal gain to the Russians to own US uranium is hypocritical while cliaming to believe nuclear proliferation is a threat . However, these issues are above the heads and stubbornness of the democratic voters to listen to the red meat issues , and also voters of the inner cities , whom Trump was trying to reach by his job plans , so posturing humbleness , a different side than we have seen in the republican debate may have been planned to sway the cross over vote and to steal Hillary supporters , he didn’t need to change the feelings of his base about him , so a lot of these other issues may have been forfeited for a later opportunity. Just walking away unharmed and appearing humble and sincere to democratic voters , was a win !
She really was pulled together last night...she looked and acted nothing like over the last year.
A medical wonder (hmm)
Holt wasted time on the birther issue and Trump's tax returns. This trivial stuff while the real issues were ignored. Not a quality debate. Try harder next time Holt, but, of course, he had to protect Hillary.
