Wondering why Obama suddenly seems to be going all in for Hillary? It's the smell of fear penetrating the privileged bubble of the left. The right side of history no longer seems so inevitable even in the rarified air of the ivory houses of D.C. That transformation of America that the left feverishly believes in as historical destiny has begun to look shakier than usual.
Going into Monday nights debate, Obamas team is feeling that same anxiety expressed by some top Hillary Clinton aides: maybe the country isnt what they thought, maybe the resistance to Obamacare and gay marriage and the progress theyre so proud of is broader than the vocal fringe theyve always dismissed. Maybe, the presidents aides current and former now concede, theyre going to have to live with the fact that Trump could end up in the Oval Office in part due to a backlash against Obama.
There's not a lot of mirth in the circles I run in about him, said another former senior Obama campaign staffer.
It's sad when the mirth goes. But it's okay. You can expect the manchildren of Obama Inc. to have a serious pop culture based response to all this.
Im trying to think of a series to compare it to, which was a series that started as a comedy and became a high stakes drama, said Ben LaBolt, a former White House aide and press secretary for Obamas 2012 reelection campaign. I feel like were maybe in the fifth season of Breaking Bad here. Were way beyond the laughs, and just sitting on the edge of our seats in terror.
In retrospect, one of the things historians will wonder about it is how these idiots took over America.
For Obamaworld staffers who had just been starting to settle into a new buoyancy about the president's climbing approval numbers, Trumps growing strength is an agonizing reminder of how far short they have fallen in delivering on hope.'
Sure. You wreck the economy. You openly set out to destroy entire industries. You force your twisted values on the entire country at gunpoint. You ridicule and humiliate anyone to the right of you at every opportunity and do your best to entirely lock them out of the culture and then political life. And you wonder why you can't reach them and there's a backlash.
Obama built this.
Though only a few weeks ago, current and former Obama aides would joke about how the presidents great political legacy might be the Republican Party destroying itself in front of him. Now, on the record, they push back on the very suggestion that Obamas legacy should be viewed in any frame that Trump also occupies.
I dont think he thinks its his legacy, I dont think any of us think its his legacy, said Dan Pfeiffer, a former senior adviser to the president.
Denial. It fixes everything.
You are correct, Trump always speaks directly, those are his words, its never political speak and that has been to his credit to those more informed and awake,
The MSM and uninformed will only see the fake polished smiles and think that a memorized one line zinger written by a cadre of paid political hacks/focus groups is something to admire or that Trump should aspire to emulate.
Did they lift that from Patrice Lumumba University?
Good guess....b/c I know the Kenyan simpleton could not have thought it all up himself.
