No species of creature must ever be allowed to go extinct and if it does its our fault.
Yellow billed cuckoos are all over north western missouri. They are not endangered.
ours ?? ..you got a mouse in your pocket?
“No species of creature must ever be allowed to go extinct and if it does its our fault.”
You do realize extrapolating that suggestion would mean dinosaurs would still be running around. Nature is in control.
The total number of species is unknown and does not have a ‘human’ limitation. Humans are not very good at control of nature. Too many deer in an area due to ‘saving the deer’, they ALL get under nourished and sickly. WE have a very bad track record of trying to control nature.
Global warming is the epitome of such hijinks of the liberal mind resulting in unintended consequences. Check in sometime on the number of eagles killed here in CA by the big Fans in the desert that is a keystone of these nanny state liberals.
Live and let live? on that we can agree.
The real issue is not about a bird.
“No species of creature must ever be allowed to go extinct and if it does its our fault.”
One of the main reasons North America is livable (and prosperous) is that when modern humans came here 12,000 years ago, they cleared the continent of mega-fauna, large dangerous animals - mammoths, saber-tooth cats, dire wolves, etc. Otherwise we’d be just like sub-Saharan Africa, with people getting trod upon or eaten by the local wildlife.
So, if an extinction occurs directly resulting from man’s activity what is the penalty besides someone trying to shame us?
I’m glad we weren’t around when the dinosaurs became extinct.
