Modern parents have no ability to say ‘no’ to their snowflakes—and if they can’t make something work for their kids, they don’t want other families to have the option of using them either.

Yes, it's all about parents saying no and setting limits. What are they going to ask for next, to ban the candy at the check-out aisles?

I raised two children to adulthood and never once did I allow anything to be added to the cart by my children unless I asked them to go fetch it. We also never, not even once, bought an impulse item at the check out aisle.
