Went to the grocery store yesterday. Listened to a mother “negotiating” with her daughter, probably age 4 or so, about the type of cereal they were going to buy. Could not believe the exchange-obviously the mother was not the adult in their relationship. My kids always had an opinion on most things - when asked - but that did not translate to a vote and were not allowed to go to the grocery store until they were teenagers.
