Not long from now, the American people will go to the polls to elect the next president of the United States. We face tremendous challenges a stagnant economy, racial tension and growing threats from radical Islam.
Voters increasingly feel the American dream is slipping away, that their children will be worse off, that the system is rigged against them and is not working for them. The vast majority of Americans as many as Gary Bauer Hail Hillarytwo-thirds of us, according to the latest polls know we are on the wrong track. We need a change.
In this election, Hillary Clinton represents the status quo more scandals and more Barack Obama. I believe we have had enough of both.
But more importantly, I believe this election may be the last chance we have to stop Obamas fundamental transformation of America, and restore our nation and the values we cherish.
In the choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, some Republicans say they may stay home or vote for third party candidates. Some say Trump really is not conservative. But I believe Donald Trump is, on a number of issues, BETTER than what passes for conservatism today.
For example:
Trump has directly confronted the smothering, debate-ending left-wing dogma, euphemistically called political correctness.
He has said he supports a litmus test on judges. His Supreme Court appointments WILL BE pro-life.
He has made corruption in Washington, D.C. a major theme of his campaign.
He rejects nation building in the Middle East a utopian, not a conservative, adventure that ignores Islams incompatibility with the basic tenets of freedom, including religious liberty and the equality of women.
He exhibits Ronald Reagans caution on the use of military force, coupled with Reagans firm belief that when we do use force, we fight to win.
Trump is confronting the putrid globalism that believes secure borders are passe and that all cultures are equal. He believes in American exceptionalism and the rule of law.
Lastly, but certainly not least, Donald Trumps selection of Indiana Governor Mike Pence to be his running mate was a grand slam home run. Mike Pence is a Ronald Reagan conservative who describes himself as Christian, a conservative and a Republican and in that order!
I will not guarantee that conservatives will applaud everything Donald Trump does. But I can guarantee that Hillary Clinton will do nothing conservatives might applaud.
Conservative voters who doubt Donald Trump can trust Hillary Clinton to do everything she promises, such as:
Impose a massive amnesty far beyond what Obama has done.
Appoint pro-abortion, left-wing judicial activists who will gut the First Amendment and effectively repeal the Second Amendment.
Put a lot of coal miners and other energy industry employees out of work.
Increase the flow of refugees from Muslim nations by 500%.
Raise taxes by $100 billion a year.
Continue Obamas foreign policy of appeasement, allowing nations like China, Iran and Russia to expand their influence while America retreats.
Empower extremists on the left, such as the radicals in the Black Lives Matter movement and the anti-Israel fanatics on Americas college campuses.
What on that agenda appeals to any conservative?
This November, voters who cherish faith, family and freedom have a very clear choice: Voting for Donald Trump gives us a chance to restore America. Not voting or dividing the conservative vote by supporting a third party candidate only empowers the left, and likely means the end of conservatism in America.

He is also the president of American Values, a non-profit organization committed to defending life, traditional marriage, and equipping our children with conservative values. An alumni of the Reagan administration he served as President Reagans Deputy Under Secretary for Planning and Budget in the United States Department of Education, from 1982 to 1987, and as an advisor on domestic policy from 1987 to 1988. I'm glad to see them both on board.
Pray for tonight, let's hope the American public sees the truth about Hillary. Let's hope the so called conservative skeptics get over themselves, and they quit bashing Trump soon.
The author is correct about how good a candidate Trump is, I think he may be the most conservative nominee we've had since Reagan.
I tell my friends to be unapologetically for Trump.
I think the Bush family, the Erickson clan, the Beck group, the National Review crowd, and the Bill Crystal group have all outed themselves as democrats or demagogues...one or the other or both.
I expect they’ll be eating sour grapes the remainder of the normal lives and then on into eternity. :>)

At the top of the list would be Trump’s pledge to reduce immigration (including legal immigration) and not grant citizenship to illegal aliens. Both of those are necessary to preserve a demographic fighting chance for conservatism going forward.
I agree. I just read on Breitbart the FBI says the US had over 7,000 terrorist incidents last year and most were in border states.
That’s been hidden from us. I should post that article.
“Sums it all up in a nutshell.”
I completely disagree.
The real “money quote” is “..I believe Donald Trump is, on a number of issues, BETTER than what passes for conservatism today.”
In fact, the author thought so since he used it in the title.
“Trump on a Number of Issues is BETTER Than What Passes for Conservatism Today”.
Why, when praising Trump, does everyone have to always include their little negative caveats?
I support Donald Trump 100%. PERIOD! Most of the caveats, which I will not mention here, ARE who Donald Trump IS.
Are YOU perfect? I am not! (I was going to add “Trump is not”, but that might be construed as a caveat, so I won’t), no one but Jesus is.
It’s like you guys are constantly APOLOGIZING for our nominee!!!!
STOP IT.....!!!!!!
Are you “supporting him”... or are you “supporting him BUT”
We need not say that we support him because he is “better than Hillary”. Who doesn’t know that?!!
How about we SUPPORT him for his positions on the issues.

Watch all these little video vignettes.
TRUMP is FANTASTIC! I hope they run every one of these as commercials.
Trump is soooooo comfortable in his own skin. He is so REAL!!!! People/voters love this about Trump. He isn’t “acting”. He actually BELIEVES this stuff. The REAL Donald Trump shines through.
I don’t really disagree with your post, but I do think you missed the way I took both the title and the quote “I will not guarantee that conservatives will applaud everything Donald Trump does. But I can guarantee that Hillary Clinton will do nothing conservatives might applaud.”
It says “passes for conservatism.” Therefore, it is saying there is a lot of conservatism out there that is weak or cino (conservative in name only).
Even THAT TYPE of conservative should like Trump better than Hillary. That’s what I read it as saying.
OK. (But I’m still betting that a Harvard Professor only pays 7% on social security and not 14%)
I’ve read Trump’s issues. Some I support and some I do not. I’m neither surprised or disappointed by that because I have yet to vote for a candidate who I supported 100%. I suppose it would be nice to, but I’m not holding by breath waiting. I voted for Romney in 2008 not because I was an enthusiastic supporter but because on balance I agreed with many of his position and I disagreed with virtually everything Obama proposed. I voted for McCain for the same reason. And I am in the same position this year. I will vote for Trump in November not because I agree with all his positions but because given the choice we have he is by far the better candidate. And if that strikes you as “supporting him but...” then I’m sorry but that’s the way it is.
Woe is YOU! HEH HEH SEMPER FI
Why, when praising Trump, does everyone have to always include their little negative caveats?
EXACTLY, most have never read one of his books.
“Trump is NOT a small government guym (sic)” citation required for your caveat...
Exactly
That's an odd equivocation. It's virtually impossible to agree 100% with any candidate, heck I didn't agree with everything Reagan did.
I find Trump to be the candidate I agree with more than any other since Reagan. I support him whole heartedly, without reservation.
The way you put it, it sounds like you are holding your nose to vote for him, like we all did for McCain and Romney. I'm curious as to why you implied that, and what reasons you will give for what you said.
I'm not trying to pick a fight, but what do you find in Trump that upsets you? Honest question.
