Dear famous person,
If we want to be seen with you, we'll turn our backs on you.
Please don't be offended.
It's just that your fame isn't enough for us anymore.
We need to attach ourselves to your fame, so that we can post the resulting picture to Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat.
That way, we achieve our own sort of mini-fame. Which could be the maximal fame we ever attain.
Please forgive me for this missive to the stars.
There's a reason: this astounding picture posted on Sunday to Twitter by Hillary For America design lead Victor Ng. He credited the shot to the photographer currently working on the Clinton campaign, Barbara Kinney.
As Hillary Clinton stands on a podium and waves, not one of the throng in front of her seems to be facing her.
Instead, everyone has turned their backs and raised their phones in order to get a little of themselves -- perhaps just their hair or their upper forehead -- into the shot.
Ng offered this caption: "2016, ya'll."
One can surely forgive him for misplacing his apostrophe, as he gazed upon this human catastrophe.
Increasingly we prefer to be seen with each other, instead of looking at each other.
We live not to be there, but to be seen to be there.
So, dear famous person, please understand that it's all a show now. All of it.
This might be especially worth remembering should you be taking part in some sort of debate in the near future.
Ugh, sad.
Sorry, Chris Matretsgtdghethb. We’re just not that into her.
They probably bused them all in lol, but yeah still sad...
What would she do without her young, brainless, female constituency?
Oh My God, the Cringe!
The Selfie Nation.
Obviously, this was set up as an opportunity for them all to get a selfie with her. Author of article makes it seem like it was spontaneous. It would be hilarious if it was, though.
Never turn your back on a serial killer.
upchuck.
Are you sure Hillary didn’t tell them that she was about to yak?
I can’t remember EVER taking a “selfie” - am I alone in this?
Appears to be one of h - ILL - ary's substitutes. The person waving her hand is too thin to be she.
Her hair/wig appears different as well.
Yes, but they can take those photos for free. How much would she charge for a traditional photo with the other person standing next to her? $10,000? $25,000?
That’s a lot of self-ish-ies.
Exactly. We probably will never be able to return to all-male voting. But widespread voting by women should be discouraged. The Biblical roles of men and women are fairly clear.
Anyone notice she’s on her tiptoes? That booster box she’s on wasn’t enough. Donald Trump would grin and shake his head if he were there. Hillary’s all “Look, it’s me!” but she has to be on tiptoes, sad!
Apparently the author is not familiar with selfies or it is a fake news site
So much diversity in the audience. /s
I've taken one. Last summer, I climbed to the summit of Mt. Whitney (elev 14,494 I believe) with a couple of young whippersnapper co-workers. Brutal hike. So I attempted taking a selfie at the top.
Later, when I got home and checked my photos, all I found was a picture of the clouds!
Turns out I did it wrong, and didn't aim the phone in the right direction.
Yes, I'm an idiot. Haha! Now I'll have to climb Whitney again to do it right.
