ON THE OCCASION OF THE FIRST DEBATE BETWEEN
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Donald John Trump
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY, HEMPSTEAD, NY
9 PM MONDAY SEPTEMBER 26, 2016
The 90 minute debate will be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on major topics to be selected by the moderator and announced at least one week before the debate. The moderator will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. Candidates will then have an opportunity to respond to each other. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion of the topic.
Why do you think I left Seattle for a farm in south central KY? A farm I purchased two weeks before the 2008 election.
;-)
I remember, when Bush won in 2000, telling people, “all we’ve done is put off the inevitable for another four years.
The inevitable? That would be the country finally getting what it wants - and deserves. And the history created since then speaks volumes.
Nope. You missed it. You are projecting.
You may want to look at what the snark is directed at.
I post a LOT on liberal sites FOR trump. I get the same reaction there. I expect it there, but not here. It says a lot about the mood in this country that it is happening on the R sites as well.
Don’t blame you I had the same feeling that he wasn’t doing well. He appeared to me to be on the defensive much of the early debate, and then I fell asleep. As to the debate, it wasn’t, there were few if any debate rules followed. Hillary was allowed leeway to throw out what she “thought” Trump was thinking, that isn’t allowed here or in a debate.
A random thought, we seem to have arrived at FR on the very same day.
He clearly was the stronger candidate. She won’t pick up any new votes, and he won’t lose any, and might get some.
But, yes, we all wanted to see her crash and burn. She didn’t, but then again where are the Wikileak emails that were forthcoming?
yes, the audience, and the moderator as well at least before I fell asleep. Comments here were so fast I could not keep up.
Wow great catch Red. That is a wire no doubt! Great thing about leftists is that they always self destruct, just a matter of time.
I’ve been watching Presidential & Vice Presidential debates for over 40 years, and in every one, I’m hopping up and down yelling “Hit him (her) NOW with X, Y, or Z”, because I’m sure my candidate has missed all sorts of points that should have been made. At lesser Office levels, many times the Pub is somebody who simply hasn’t spent their whole life at this sort of thing; at high levels, maybe it’s just because Pubs are rarely such policy wonks as Dems, plus there IS a tremendous amount to remember, and not make a major gaffe.
Trump came into this debate with momentum: His major goal was probably to hold the fort, especially if he got wind of the questions minutes B4 the debate started. He did almost seem agitated about something. Or maybe it was just knowing he was going in, 2 against his 1.
That all said, I in this and other debates, have posted, essentially, “I wish he / she had said”... It’s part of the process, and one can even hope that a few original suggestions make it back to the campaign. Tho’ likely not used, maybe they’ll at least be thought about.
Since tonight was rather blatantly 2 on 1, I was almost wishing Trump, after some odious question, had said, “Lester, have you ever wondered why over 2/3 of the American people no longer trust the media? But to answer your question...”
TIME poll Trump 58%, Clinton 42%
At this point, early, the day after, a lot of the MSM meme is that polls show Hildabeast won, but, tho' they are not "scientific", Trump can point to these online polls as showing support that a biased MSM won't report. Recall that in the primaries the online polls were roundly poo-hoo'd, but they showed pro-Trump enthusiasm that was reflected to some degree in actual voting.
Hofstra Pride
wats an Hofstra?
Hmmm.
Nikos, congratulations on an over-5,000 post thread!
> She blamed Wall Street for the 2008 financial crisis - and he said nothing about govt role in forcing banks to give loans to people with no collateral, or even jobs.
Good point. Also, he could have mentioned Glass-Steagall, effectively repealed under Bill Clinton, and a major contributor to 2007-2008.
Lester Holt was in the tank for Trump?? the DUmpsters corner the market on dropping acid!!!
I didn’t say that.
But she looked far better than I expected.
Her hair was styled softer, she didn’t show the wrinkles, her eyes didn’t have the wide open weird stare that you see so often, and she had on an outfit that was far better looking than a lot of what I’ve seen her in recently.
Someone put a lot of work into her appearance.
Someone’s don’t look happy.
THAT is telling.
They must think that she did worse than we did.
I am a little worried about the CNN moderators (co-debaters) in the next debate. Cooper/Raddatz will be relentless in trying to provoke and fact check Trump. Trump needs to neutralize them early by stating that he knows he is debating three people that night and that he is an outsider against the failed mainstream establishment (including the MSM who supports the failed establishment).
that’s for microphone.
Thanks and you too!
