As NBA teams began gathering Friday to start training camps three teams hold their first practices Saturday, while 27 others get going in the coming days an issue each is addressing is how players and coaches can help create substantive change in cities across the country. The NBA and the players union urged teams this week to develop ideas in a memo this week.
No one can be happy with whats going on right now, Van Gundy said Friday. I like what (Golden State coach) Steve Kerr said. Wherever you are on the political spectrum, I dont think a thinking person can say, This isnt a problem. I mean, were shooting unarmed people and youve got to think largely, they are seen as threats largely because of their race. I mean, its hard to fathom.

Finding that solution wont be easy.
I dont have an answer. Nobody has an answer, Oklahoma Citys Russell Westbrook said. If that was the case, we would have fixed it.

Naggerball? Nothing but squeaks and tweets. Boring!
Professional sports is a symptom of a sick society.A society where people watch rather than do is headed for trouble.
I mean if you can't DUNK a ball and you are the only player near the rim and you are getting Millions a year...but you are showing off and you miss the dunk...I don't need it...
My Lightning are opening training camp this year and Steven Stamkos is back healthy...and my Red Sox are inthe playoffs...
This is easy to boycott for me.
What will kill the sports is when the dueling attention seeking gets in the way of anything, like when Black Lives Matter stopped a homosexual parade in Canada.
When the game becomes Black Lives Matter vs Illegal Immigrants or BLM vs Transactivsts or BLM vs Environmentalists ... people will stop watching the sports.
Absolutely. The teams racial makeup should be reflective of the population at large.
Maybe they could start some real social change by transforming the cultural descriptive from ‘baby daddy’ to ‘father’.
First of all, that team has a real issue if its members are going around shooting unarmed people.
Secondly, it is not NBA teams or their members who have any obligation to effect social change. They are basketball players. Their job is to entertain. Or, in the words of Laura Ingraham, "Shut up and sing!"
