After his infamous snub at the RNC Convention Senator Ted Cruz endorsed Donald Trump today for president.

I too am glad to see this endorsement by Cruz. The idea that he did so now because Trump is obviously about to win is ridiculous. Trump may win, but he could also lose, and lose by a clear margin. The election is nowhere close to being over yet.
Cruz explained his reasons in great detail — some of which had already led me on my own to support Trump (his statement: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3472727/posts?page=118#118). In my opinion those reasons should be good enough for almost anyone with any pretense of being on the right to choose Trump over Hillary (anyone with a grain of sense, anyway, who doesn’t place personal animosity over the good of the country).
Most persons make up their minds on their own, of course, being influenced by many persons and events rather than by a single one. Cruz’s endorsement, though, could make a difference of a percentage point or two in key states. Admittedly that’s not ten or twenty percentages points, but this election will probably come down to a few percentage points. Trump needs every one he can get.
Contrast Trump’s own reaction to some of the negative responses here. “I am greatly honored by the endorsement of Senator Cruz. We have fought the battle and he was a tough and brilliant opponent. I look forward to working with him for many years to come in order to make America great again.”
It's not ridiculous at all. Of course Cruz is endorsing Trump at this point. It had to be getting pretty lonely out there being shunned in every direction. Some folks out here had enough judgment and foresight to see what Cruz's character was all about, and understand he never had a chance against Trump in the primaries in 2016 America. Not a chance.
Obviously Trump will take his vote. But don't expect that to be accompanied by trust.

Of course, it’s ridiculous. (I’m not going to waste my time explaining why. If you don’t think so, fine.) I hope Trump wins, and wins by a landslide. It’s not obvious now, though.

Cruz is used to it. He has stuck his neck out, and stood up virtually alone among politicians many times in the past.
There’s nothing hypocritical about it. What I am saying is that if someone still has to be negative and divisive by continuing to knock Cruz, then they should please buzz off. The Cruz hater is the culprit, not me. I want unity. At this point, Cruz bashing serves no purpose other than to foster disunity. The party and the campaign are better off without that kind of “support.”
Trump will win big league, with or without Mr. Cruz’s endorsement.
