A few years ago I read that “The last resort that’s the greatest treason is to do the right thing for the wrong reason.”
You’re probably right that his reason for doing this is for his own personal gain. But maybe he’s sincere. As Christians, we know about redemption. Bottom line: Only God knows what’s in his heart.
I still despise the guy and the crap he pulled throughout the primary. Until I learn otherwise, he’ll always be a sleazeball who decided to do the right thing, for whatever reason.
