Former Boston Red Sox star pitcher Curt Schilling and a group of his business partners are settling a lawsuit with the state of Rhode Island.

The settlement, if approved by a judge, requires Schilling and three others to pay a combined $2.5 million to the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation.

That may sound like a lot, but it’s a far cry from the $75 million loan that was given to Schilling’s game studio, 38 Studios...

A number of lawsuits transpired as a result of the loan deal and the closure of 38 Studios. The $2.5 million settlement in this case specifically applies to a lawsuit between the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation and Curt Schilling (plus his business partners); if settled, it effectively ends Schilling’s legal involvement with the 38 Studios loan.

A friend of mine bought a computer from them at that estate sale they had a couple of years ago.After the sale,which was confirmed by a receipt and a credit card charge,they decided they wanted it back so their lawyer wrote him a letter saying that if he didn't return it they'd report the PC to the police as having been stolen.Frightened,my friend had to hire a lawyer and pay him serious money.Enraged,he decided to offer it to the Securities And Exchange Commission in Washington,an offer that they eagerly accepted.Unless I'm mistaken criminal charges could still be filed by the Feds in this matter.

I saw the letter.I saw the receipt and the credit card charge.I saw the bill his lawyer submitted.IMO the Schillings are just about the slimiest creatures on earth...apart from certain Rat office holders and candidates that is.

Many years ago. I think they do themselves a disservice by doing this but perhaps the thinking is that they are grooming a new team? Personally I hear any of their guest hosts and I switch to WBZ for a few days, in spite of “Kristen” Eck.
