First, there were 990 fatal police shootings in 2015. How does this compare to other causes of death? Well, I cant tell you because so few people are killed by police. The number is so small that it is outside the range of the usual mortality lists. I can say that death by police is not in the top fifty causes of death in the US, so it is relatively rare. It is extremely rare for women, because the overwhelming majority of those killed by police were men. And I would be greatly remiss if I did not highlight that in addition to the 990 civilian deaths, there were 51 police deaths in 2015
Regarding the civilians killed by police, more than nine-tenths of them were armed at the time58% of the people killed had a gun or explosives, 17% wielded a knife or edged weapon, 9% were unarmed, 6% used a vehicle, and tragically, 3% had a toy weapon. The rest used mostly clubs, hatchets, hammers, baseball bats, the usual assortment of your basic stone age deadly weapons that can kill you just as dead now as they could in 1500 BC.
(snip)
Here are the results of that comparison for 2015.
For every 10,000 white people arrested for a violent crime, 38 white people were killed by police (± 2). For every 10,000 hispanic people arrested for a violent crime, 21 hispanic people were killed by police (± 3). For every 10,000 black people arrested for a violent crime, 21 black people were killed by police (± 2).
Go figure
I was as surprised as you, so Ive triple checked the numbers, and its truethe odds of a given arrest going bad and ending up in a death are much greater for white men than

Next, police get in trouble for not killing enough women.
Jesse Jackson was just pounding Cavuto this afternoon about “how would you feel if as many white men were being shot by police every year as are black men being shot” - I guess Neil should feel twice as outraged.....
This is Mother Jones, I know, but the article discusses the study you mention and seems relatively impartial: http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2016/07/new-study-suggests-police-shoot-whites-more-frequently-blacks
I’m so sorry....I forgot the sarcasm off tag.
I was just trying to spin the current report so it could be reported by MSM.
Thanks.
Consider this:
The FBIs Supplementary Homicide Reports and Centers for Disease Control reported that an average of 4,472 black men were killed by other black men annually between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2012.
One black man killed by police every three days, 37 killed by other black men in the same period.
I was not surprised at all.
Cracka.
Here are some numbers I have, which closely correspond to yours. You will like the other numbers I have:
Of the 56,259 homicides from 2009-2012, 19,000 (33.8%) were killings of black males.
Comparisons by types of homicides of black males:
481 (2.5%) were the result of police use of force.
152 (0.8%) were the result of a negligent accident homicides (i.e., child playing with a gun).
648 (3.4%) were the result of a justifiable homicides by private citizens acting in self-defense.
17,719 (93.3%) were criminal homicides (murders)
89.6% (.896 x 17,719 = 15,876) of black males killed in criminal homicides from 2009-2012 were killed by another black male.
As there are approximately 20,864,500 black males in the U.S., here are annual percentages:
0.020% (4173) of all black males died in a criminal homicide last year.
0.012% (2503) of all black males committed suicide last year
0.011% (2295) of all black males died in a vehicle crash last year
0.00078% (163) of all black males died by a private citizen acting in self-defense
0.00078% (163) of all black males died from police use of force last year
Let me add that, obviously, none of that was personal, or serious, or even marginally comprehensible.
Not the original study, of course, but this article is about the same study that the Left wants to ignore, particularly the part that the analysis was done by a black college professor.
