I heard the police chief say this morning that the video will be shown to the family and it “does not definitively show him pointing the gun at the officer”. Now why in the world he would say that I don’t know. No cop has to wait until the shooter is actually pointing the gun at him to take him out. You give the command to drop the gun, he does not drop him, you take him out. You be can dead in a split second.

I agree, you have a gun, cop says drop, you don’t drop, then the officer has every, every reason, to shoot. It takes only one fraction of a second to raise a gun and pull a trigger and reaction speed wise, the raising of the gun and pulling of the trigger will occur prior to the officers response to the raising of the gun. In other words, the officer could very well be shot by a suspect that does not drop on command.
