“Just saw some very interesting tactics on the helo vid feed link - cops in SUVs, on bicycles and ATVs repeatedly chasing and dispersing thugs trying to gather up. They would zip right up on them and swarm. Don’t know what was going on down there, but the “protestors” didn’t want anything to do with them and took off every time. Very interesting - mobile infantry going on the offense.”

Oh I know why - maybe it was a lack of aerial video from past riots I dunno, but most video I've seen from all the previous civil dust-ups shows cops standing around, doing blocking maneuvers and such. Riot geared cops in lines, vehicles blocking streets and so forth, but no vid of cops taking the initiative like this. Whomever it is in charge over there has the right ideas and enough resources for keeping things tamped down.
