As the wise Greeks discerned from observation, cyclical change is a hallmark of our existence; such as birth, death, growth, decline, light, dark, cold, hot and all the rest of the phenomenons embedded in Nature. These allowed them as well as the natural philosophers of the High Middle Ages; Priests who were the first formal scientists; to develop and define the Laws of Gravity, Mechanics, Motion, Thermodynamics, among dozens. To this moment they explain our physical world.
Contrast that w/the 2 most ballyhooed notions of the last 150 years; Evolution and Relativity. Both are unproven speculations: Theories. Tell that to the next science asshole who insists that the moderns have surpassed the their predecessors in knowledge and wisdom.
Relativistic time is well-proven. Without compensating for its effects, navigation of Saturn-mapping spacecraft and, even, the GPS (for example) would not be possible.
