If ratings drop so do the salaries eventually and then I want to hear what these spoiled brats think then . Let them play to an empty stadium for peanuts . I call it self imposed oppression .
If they take a knee, do Eagle power stands, or disrespect the nation where they enjoy the freedom of expression that allows them to disrespect the great nation they live in, they need to understand its going to cost them. Remove the multimillion dollar contracts.
Let them play to an empty stadium for peanuts “
All the seats for the Houston Texans are sold out for the season. Probably the same for a few other teams. Somehow can’t see people not going to games if their seats were paid for last spring. We watched them play KC Sunday - but we won’t watch or listen to any other games unless the Texans are playing.
Houston is hosting the Super Bowl next year so we’ll see what happens to attendance at that event. People in Texas are rabid football fans. If Houston makes it to that event, it will be SRO.
If the trend goes through to the end of the season, and there’s 10 to 20-percent less viewers, then networks and the NFL are in serious trouble. Salary structure by spring of 2017 would shift and everyone signing a contract would see a 10-percent cut as minimum....wouldn’t matter if you were a 5-million-dollar quarterback or a $300,000 a year defensive player. Go and tell some 27-year old that he has to accept a 10-percent cut on salary because of this ‘sitting-business’ and it’ll rub him the wrong way.
I think what you will see by training time of 2017 is a number of people telling the ‘sitters’ to sharpen up their act or face some behind-the-scenes threats. If the sitters continue their act through next season...the NFL will probably have to meet and discuss some serious changes to the game to win people back.
Capitalism wins in the end....just my humble opinion.
