The average tenure of a CEO is only a few years. They don’t look long range, because they figure they won’t be there.
The “professional manager” class will destroy America, if it results in them making their numbers this quarter and getting their stock options.
I never understood the role of manager; if you hire someone with a real skill and genuine work ethic, there isn’t any need to hire someone to breathe down the neck of the worker. As for a CEO, if they think short term, stay short term, they don’t belong in the position of such authority.
