The Bush family would have been utterly irrelevant but for R. Reagan picking the Elder as his VP. Now people realize they SHOULD have been irrelevant.

From what I read in the the book, Jeb! and the Bush Crime Family, Reagan never particularly trusted the Bush family either and reluctantly picked GHB for VP against his better judgment.

Yeah, no... Poppy Bush was forced onto the ticket. He had already brought down two presidencies by that point and may have been behind bringing down Reagan... Poppy was anything but irrelevant. A true deviant criminal, just less sloppy than the Clintons.
