It really doesn't look like much of a bomb.
When I was a kid, me and buddies would make bigger bombs that this by mixing black power and smokeless powder in a section of 2 inch pipe.

I have to say it surprised me, because I didn't think it was that big a deal, either. ... This is the "Chelsea bomb".
