Near where I grew up in Spring Valley, NY the intersection of MLK and Harriet Tubman Blvd is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the Hudson Valley. I know Black people who’d be scared out of their wits to venture there in broad daylight. It is a damn shame.
Right after the end of WWII we ended up living in Oakland, CA. And where we lived was a nice “all white” neighborhood. Now it’s all minority. The main drag out to East Oakland ( were all the killings that put Oakland way up on the list used to be called East 14th St. Now it’s called International Blvd., and if you have to go there today, you need a black friend or a gun. Preferably both, and he probably should be armed as well.
