Just received a land-line automated polling call from a number in FL. In OH.
The first question was will you definitely vote. I answered yes.
The next Q. was ethnicity, for statistical purposes only. I listened to all the choices b/f I answered cauc.
Hispanic was option 6.
As soon as I answered cauc. the call ended with a thank you.
Not interested in knowing who you are going to vote for if you are cauc. and going to vote?? Obviously ethnicity was not for statistical purposes only if it caused the call to end.
Anyone know about this strategy of polling?
For years we have been getting polling calls in Spanish b/c my husband’s name ends with a vowel, but this was in English.
It was obviously a filtered poll, seeking minority voter data only. You can bet that whoever presented the results of that poll didn't include that bit of information in the methodology description.
Whenever I get those automated telephone polling calls, I answer "creatively". I know they're all lying to me when they publish results, so I'm just returning the favor.

I answered as a Black Female when the pollster’s called me in NC and then answered with conservative responses.
I was polled twice by Gallup because I am of Spanish (European) ancestry, but they ask are you of Hispanic or Spanish origin. When I said yes, they asked me about 20 minutes of questions about the election and the candidates. Was a live person both times, not a computer. Being of Spanish ancestry is the reason I’m sure we were selected to be a Nielsen ratings family as well.
